Manohar Aich, India’s first Mr Universe, dies at 102

Manohar Aich, who was the first from free India to win the Mr Universe title, kicked the bucket at 102 years old in Kolkata on Sunday. The centenarian won the Mr Universe title in 1952, notwithstanding three gold awards in working out at the Asian Games.

Aich was named “Pocket Hercules” for his short stature, at 4.11 ft. He started preparing in 1942 when he had joined the British Royal Air Force. Aich had likewise won the World Championship of Spring Pulling by tearing a spring of 275 pounds strain.
