Live Score Updates
Australia 302/8 (48.0 Ovs)
Carey 19 (19)
Australia 300 for 7 in 47 overs
Three for Amir
He’s been their best bowler so far in the day and now gets ride of Marsh as Australia aim for 350. The Australian lower-order can bat but Carey needed support from Marsh.
Australia 290 for 6
Khawaja goes now and Amir strikes again. Pakistan are fighting with quick wickets and that’s hurting Australia. Length ball and played straight to mid-off. Carey comes out to bat.
Australia 277 for 5
Shaheen has leaked runs but get the big wicket. Smashed towards sweeper cover and it goes up without much distance. Imam takes a good catch as Warner walks off frustrated. He’s done his bit but could have looked to go on and get a double.
Australia 242 for 4
A comeback ODI ton for David Warner. His first in England and he’s pumped. Leaps in the air punches the air. He needed this after his innings against India. He attacked to push Pakistan in the backfoot and hasn’t relented since. He’s not eight runs shy of becoming the highest-scorer this World Cup. He’s dropped soon after by Asif Ali at third man. What a day!
Australia 235 for 3
The Maxwell experiment doesn’t last long. He goes for 20 off 10. Length ball and no feet movement. Even though he tried to defend, the ball crashed into the stumps.
Australia 223 for 3
Pakistan fighting with wickets. On the stumps and Smith wanted to tonk that one to the on side. The leading edge goes high and towards cover where Asif Ali takes the catch. Agressive move from Australia – they’ve sent Maxwell.
Australia 189 for 2
Finch’s assault comes to an end. He wanted to go over cover but doesn’t time it well. Good catch from Hafeez.
Australia 146 for 1
50 for Warner
After his scratchy innings against India, Warner has turned things around brilliantly against Pakistan. Gets to his third half-century in this tournament off 51 balls.
Australia 146 for no loss in 22 overs
20 overs done – Australia 122 for no loss.
Pakistan under real pressure now. Finch has reached his half-century and then tonks the next ball for a six. The 100 comes up in the 17th over and Pakistan are looking out of ideas.
Australia 107 for no loss in 17
Nothing going Pakistan’s way. Back of length delivery and it pings Finch in front. It looked like it was pitching outside leg but it didn’t. Sarfraz wasn’t too pleased but Wahab forced him to. Just clipping the stumps and Finch survives after being given not out.
Australia 87 for no loss in 15 overs
First real chance for Pakistan and it has been grassed by Asif Ali at first slip. Back of length ball and angling away, takes the outside edge and flies straight to Ali at first slip. Easy catch and dropped. The drop went for four, the next ball goes for a boundary down the leg side. More frustration for Pakistan now
Australia 76 for no loss in 13 overs.
Superb start this from Australia. They were asked to bat and have no w left Pakistan with several doubts. None of the Pakistan bowlers have been consistent and it has only helped Finch and Warner.
Australia 56 for no loss
Green track, overcast conditions and it doesn’t matter. Both Australia openers are looking to stay positive. Amir started with a maiden while Finch has tonked Shaheen for a six. Warner too is scoring at a strike rate of more than 100. Amir has got some swing while Shaheen has just struggled.
Australia 27 for no loss after five
Alright then, Finch and Warner to open, Amir to start with the blog and we are all set …
