Toss and teams:
The Asian nation has won the toss and opted to bowl. Maybe Afghanistan are thinking about the dew factor and that tempted them to take the decision.
Afghanistan (Playing XI): Hazratullah Zazai, Javed Ahmadi, Rahmat Shah, Ikram Ali Khil(w), Najibullah Zadran, Asghar Afghan, Mohammad Nabi, Rashid Khan(c), Sharafuddin Ashraf, Naveen-ul-Haq, Mujeeb Ur Rahman
West Indies (Playing XI): Shai Hope(w), Evin Lewis, Shimron Hetmyer, Roston Chase, Nicholas Pooran, Kieron Pollard(c), Jason Holder, Romario Shepherd, Sheldon Cottrell, Alzarri Joseph, Hayden Walsh
Just four wins out of 18 ODIs in 2019. Afghanistan’s sorry progress report in 50-over cricket this year. The visitors, who couldn’t win a single game in the 2019 World Cup, slipped to a seven-wicket loss in the first ODI of the bilateral series versus the West Indies in Lucknow. The beleaguered Rashid Khan-led side will target a comeback when they lock horns against the Caribbean side in the crucial second game at the same ground.
For Afghanistan, the duo of Rahmat Shah and Ikram Ali played fine hands, but the think-tank would be concerned about the poor form of Javed Ahmadi and Zazai. Meanwhile, Kieron Pollard’s captaincy debut went on a perfect note with a victory. Jason Holder, the former ODI captain, Roston Chase and Hope all put up fine performances. Pollard will hope for another such clinical show in the second game to clinch the series.
