Hampshire vs Warwickshire

It just needed an hour after lunch on Friday (17 May) for Hampshire to wrap up proceedings as they registered a crushing 314-run win over Warwickshire to record their second victory of the season.

Resuming at 42 for 2, the home team lost Robert Yates off the second ball of the day and suffered further blows in the next five overs as they lost two wickets for one run to be reduced to 43 for 5.

There were brief spells of resistance from Alex Thomson and the last wicket pair of Jeetan Patel and Oliver Hannon-Dalby, but the target was too tall to induce any hopes of a comeback. Hampshire took almost 13 overs to dislodge the last wicket stand and complete their second win in three Championship games this season.

Brief scores: Hampshire 354 (Tom Alsop 150, Aneurin Donald 75; Oliver Hannon-Dalby 4-69) and 302/5 decl. (Rilee Rossouw 76, Jeetan Patel 2-107) beat Warwickshire233 (Dominic Sibley 109; Kyle Abbott 4-50) and 109 (Robert Yates 21; Fidel Edwards 3-36) by 314 runs.
