Akshay Kumar Seeks Speedy Sudan Evacuation, Sushma Swaraj Replies Back With Positive Assurance

Akshay Kumar is one actor who doesn’t stick to being engrossed in the glossy glamour world, unaware about the reality checks outside the arch-lights. No wonder even the selection of his films are close to true life incidents. Take for instance,Airlift. The film not just tasted success at the box office, but also won hearts for imparting awareness about the Iraq war and the evacuation of Indians from Kuwait. Akshay played Indian businessman Ranjit Katyal, who lead the evacuation of his countrymen in the film inspired from a group of Indians who led the task in 1990.

Considering Indians are facing a similar crisis in South Sudan, Akshay, being an informed actor, is taking steps to garner attention towards the issue. The actor tweeted to External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj requesting her to take speedy evacuation measures of Indians stuck in Juba. The capital city is witnessing escalated violence due to clashes between anti and pro government forces. India has been putting in place an evacuation plan for its nationals from the war-torn country.

The MEA has held a meeting to plan the evacuation of Indian nationals, apart from a task force which has been set up to monitor the situation. We hope that Akshay’s message has been passed on well, not just to the ministry, but to the entire nation alike. Kudos Akshay!
